A Few Fun Surprises!

We are starting off with a bang here this year! Yesterday Zoey was lent some books from one of her biggest role models, one of her theatre directors. Her director is lending her some plays and books on theatre from her own personal collection because she knows how much Zoey loves reading and acting. She included an amazing note and also included special messages about each title for Zoey. To say that Zoey was tickled isn't even covering it! What a special gift!

Another fun discovery was learning that a library in our consortium of libraries is hosting a 16 week session of natural history presentations online starting next month! I signed Zoey up since this year she is studying Pre-History and Geology. The presentations are every Tuesday at 4pm. Perfect!

Today Zoey had her first project for science. It felt kind of as though we were going back to Kindergarten, getting to play with clay! Zoey was to create a model of the Earth's layers using a scale of cm = 1,000km (the pencil drawing under the clay reflects this). It's a good thing we had two protractors since we ended up breaking one!

Right now she's working on Spanish a subject that we haven't been able to quite get right when it comes to using a curriculum. This year though we are hopeful. She's loving the class so far which is online and has an instructor that only speaks Spanish the entire time. I'm hoping that she continues to enjoy and feel success with this way of instruction.
